Diwali celebrates 10 years with music, dance and lots of food

by Ben OlivoNov 04, 2018

Thousands of people descended Saturday night at Hemisfair for the 10th annual Diwali festival. Dance groups performed on the main stage near Alamo Street. Along Nueva Street, near Yanaguana Garden, merchants sold jewelry and clothing. At one station, people got their heads dressed with a turban. The food area, next to the Instituto Cultural de México at San Antonio, was the most packed, but the lines seems way more manageable than in previous years. People there gorged on domas, samosas, tandoori chickens, and foods I'm unfamiliar with. Over by the fountains, near the Tower of the Americas, people lighted diyas and released them in the pool throughout the evening.
